Our aim, when we started the Oxford Jazz Festival, was to provide Oxford with a fantastic annual Jazz Festival, and throughout our five years, we managed to bring some fabulous names to Oxford to perform in some of the City's finest spaces. Our stated aim - to provide inspiring jazz performances within the less-seen spaces of Oxford - was accomplished, with performances from as varied a cast from Soweto Kinch to Norma Winstone, within the Bodleian Library, the Ashmolean Museum and the ballroom of the Randolph Hotel. It was also about intimate performances from local artists within the restaurants and bars of Oxford, where arguably the finest performances were heard in more intimate settings.
However, after many years of hard work, some excellent results and constant effort in the face of repeated cuts in budgets and grants for the arts, we have decided to temporarily put the Oxford Jazz Festival to bed. We'd certainly consider bringing the festival back to Oxford, but not this year.
In the meantime, please continue to support live Jazz, she needs you more than ever.
All the best,
The Oxford Jazz Festival
