A huge hit at last year’s London Jazz Festival, Clara brings with her two musicians from her Real Lowdown project – Harvey Brough (guitar/various) and Andy Hamill (bass). Originally from Barcelona, Spain, Clara is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who writes all of her own music with production from award winning Harvey Brough. She has travelled the world performing the widest possible range of music from Stockhausen to Medieval madrigals, through jazz and pop to folk. Clara’s has recently settled in London, England and her major musical project is now The Real Lowdown, which she brings to the Ashmolean’s Benugu’s restaurant.
Clara has now recorded two albums of her own music – the latest “Hopetown House” draws on all strands of music she has heard and performed. Musically speaking, her songs are diverse, adopting Tango, Blues, a ramshackle kind of Swing and she makes them her own, particularly playing a variety of Baroque and Renaissance instruments including Mandolin, Jarana, Guitar & Ukelele.
In addition to her own works, Clara has received critical acclaim for collaboration with Middle-Eastern sensation Natasha Atlas on the album Ana Hina. She has impressive back catalogue of recordings and performances to her credit including appearances with Al Pacino (in Merchant of Venice); Bill Nighy in BBC3’s “The Don” and work with Nicholas Hytner at the National Theatre and under the guidance of Karlheinz Stockhausen, the forefather of electronica.
